Arts & You ProgArts & You Newsletter – Issue 3 (August 2021)

We hope you’re had a great summer and are ready to return to classes. We’re delighted to announce that our new Arts & You programme is now live, with classes commencing week beginning 30 August. Full details of the programme as available on our website, with most classes available to book in advance online.

While our full programme will return at the end of the month, our ceramics classes have already returned to Pather Artworks this week. Our tutors and regular participants couldn’t wait to get back to adult ceramics and crafty kids so are delighted to be back in the studio.

Check out our full ceramics programme.

Lego Animation

Our ever popular lego animation workshops ran recently as part of our Summer of Play. The sold-out workshops were enjoyed by all, with many masterpieces created by the young people involved. Check out some of the results at

Due to their success, we’re delighted to add Lego Animation Workshops to our regular programme. The workshop is ideal for 8-12 year olds and will run on Mondays at Summerlee Museum.

We have an exciting new addition to our performing arts programme for pre-schoolers. Little Stretch and Play will launch at Airdrie Town Hall on 1 September, offering a fun and gentle class for those 5 years and under to enjoy with parents/carers.

We are delighted to be launching a Postal Art Project across North Lanarkshire in the coming weeks. Launching this Autumn, it’s a fantastic opportunity for the community to get involved in creative activity from the comfort of their own homes, using the ‘good old fashioned’ postal service!

The project will be led by our specialist arts tutors and includes visual arts, photography and ceramics. Lanarkshire based artist & illustrator Jasmine Holt will lead on visual arts activities and can’t wait to get started:

“I am very pleased to be leading the Postal Art Project this year. I look forward to providing inclusive creative activities to keep spirits high as we emerge from the events of the past year. This project will encourage participants to respond to the pandemic, creating the opportunity for an artistic conversation between a wide range of groups and individuals within North Lanarkshire.”

Keep an eye on your inbox and social media channels for information about how you can get involved.

We are delighted to launch our first online Creative Writing class for adults as part of our new Arts & You programme.

Led by an industry professional, the class will encourage participants to share ideas, work in progress and enjoy penmanship in the comfort of your own home.
